Clinical
Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever. Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). It works by changing the way the body senses pain and by cooling the body.
Read the full MedlinePlus article ↗This is an over-the-counter oral capsule that combines three active ingredients commonly used to manage cold and sinus symptoms. Acetaminophen is typically used to reduce fever and relieve pain, while dextromethorphan is commonly included to suppress cough. Phenylephrine hydrochloride functions as a nasal decongestant intended to help relieve sinus congestion. This product is marketed under FDA's OTC monograph rules, which govern combinations of these types of symptom-relief ingredients.
