This is an over-the-counter monograph product, meaning it is marketed under FDA's established rules for this category of pain-relief cream. The three active ingredients are commonly used together in topical rubs and are typically included to create a warming or cooling sensation and to function as counterirritants, which may help distract from minor muscle and joint discomfort when applied to the skin.
