Phenagil is an over-the-counter oral tablet containing three active ingredients typically found in cold and cough products. Chlorpheniramine maleate is an antihistamine commonly used to relieve allergy symptoms and sneezing, while dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. Phenylephrine hydrochloride functions as a nasal decongestant. This combination tablet is marketed as an OTC monograph drug, meaning it follows established FDA guidelines for its product category rather than being individually approved.
