Clinical
Dr. Brandt Sun Shield SPF 50 is a topical liquid sunscreen containing zinc oxide as its active ingredient. Zinc oxide functions as a physical (mineral) UV filter, meaning it sits on the skin surface and reflects ultraviolet rays rather than absorbing them. This product is marketed as an over-the-counter monograph sunscreen, which means it follows FDA's established ingredient and labeling rules for sunscreen products sold without a prescription. Sunscreens of this type are commonly used to help protect skin from sun exposure.
