Chloramphenicol Sodium Succinate Injection is used intravenously to treat serious infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
It is active against organisms including Haemophilus influenzae, Salmonella species (including Salmonella typhi, the cause of typhoid fever), Rickettsia, and the lymphogranuloma-psittacosis group.Because of its serious risks, this medication is reserved for infections where less dangerous antibiotics will not work.
It must not be used for minor infections such as colds, flu, or sore throats, or to prevent infections.
