Some antihypertensive drugs can modestly decrease endogenous levels of coenzyme Q10.

Some antihypertensive drugs, including beta blockers, diazoxide, hydralazine, and others, appear to inhibit coenzyme Q10 enzyme activity and may decrease endogenous levels of coenzyme Q10. However, it is not clear if this reduction is clinically significant. There is no reliable evidence that coenzyme Q10 depletion contributes to antihypertensive drug side effects.

Coenzyme Q10 is a natural compound your cells use to produce energy, and the heart muscle in particular depends on it. Bumetanide is a diuretic rather than one of the antihypertensive drug classes most closely linked to this issue, but some blood pressure medications as a group have been reported to interfere with CoQ10 enzyme activity, possibly nudging levels down. The honest answer here is that researchers simply do not have enough solid evidence yet to know whether this matters in practice for bumetanide users. For now, there is nothing you need to act on, but if you are curious about your CoQ10 status, your pharmacist or doctor is a good place to start that conversation.
