Key points

  • There is no known interaction between Bactrim and Tylenol.

Answer

There is no known drug interaction between Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole; trimethoprim). They are considered safe to take together.

In fact, most pain relievers are safe to take with Bactrim. In addition to Tylenol, Bactrim is safe to combine with these other over-the-counter analgesics:

  • Advil/Motrin (ibuprofen)
  • Aleve (naproxen)

It is important to remember that in addition to being a pain reliever, Tylenol is also a fever reducer and can be helpful if you also have a temperature.
