Concomitant use of loxapine and other CNS depressants may potentiate impaired cognitive function and motor skills and increase the risk of respiratory depression, hypotension, profound sedation, and syncope. This includes alcohol, opioid analgesics, benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants, general anesthetics, phenothiazines, sedative/hypnotics, muscle relaxants, and illicit CNS depressants. If coadministration if necessary, consider a dose reduction of the CNS depressant1.
