Concomitant administration of resmetirom (CYP2C8 substrate) with moderate CYP2C8 inhibitors can result in increased resmetirom exposure [AUC and Cmax] and an increased risk of resmetirom-related adverse reactions. In a drug interaction study, resmetirom Cmax increased 1.3-fold and AUC 1.7-fold following concomitant use of multiple doses of resmetirom 100 mg/day with clopidogrel (a moderate CYP2C8 inhibitor) at steady-state in healthy subjects. Reduce resmetirom dosage if used concomitantly with a moderate CYP2C8 inhibitor. If the person weight is less than 100 kg, reduce the dosage to 60 mg once daily and if the weight is greater that or equal to 100 kg, reduce the dosage to 80 mg once daily1.
