a) Among elderly diabetic patients receiving either insulin or sulfonylureas, the selection of antihypertensive medication had minimal impact on the risk of hypoglycemia; however, once other risk factors were accounted for, the lowest risk was observed with cardioselective beta blockers and the highest with non-cardioselective beta blockers, while other antihypertensive agents produced intermediate results (N=13,559) 5.
