What happens

Increased sensitive CYP3A4 substrates exposure

Interaction Deep Dive

Exert caution with concomitant use of fluconazole (a moderate CYP3A4 inhibitor) and a CYP3A4 substrate having narrow therapeutic index as it may increase the exposure of these substrates, which may increase the risk of adverse reactions associated with these substrates. Fluconazole-mediated enzyme inhibition may persist for 4 to 5 days after discontinuation. If concomitant use is required, carefully monitor for adverse reactions associated with sensitive CYP3A4 substrates12.
