Avoid coadministration of sulfinpyrazone, a urate-lowering drug, and pegloticase as this may mask a rise in serum uric acid levels, and thereby increase the risk of anaphylaxis and infusion reactions. The risk of anaphylaxis and infusion reactions with pegloticase is higher risk in patients who have lost therapeutic response (ie, serum uric acid levels above 6 mg/dL). Discontinue treatment with oral urate-lowering drugs including sulfinpyrazone before initiating pegloticase therapy, and do not initiate therapy with urate-lowering agents while patients are on pegloticase therapy1.
