American ginseng seems to stimulate immune function. Theoretically, American ginseng might decrease the effectiveness of immunosuppressant drugs.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Tremfya (guselkumab) works by calming down a part of your overactive immune system to clear up psoriasis plaques and ease psoriatic arthritis. American ginseng, on the other hand, is thought to gently rev up immune activity. So in theory, pushing your immune system in the opposite direction could chip away at how well Tremfya controls your symptoms, meaning your skin patches or joint pain might not improve as much.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how each one behaves, not on real cases of it actually happening. It's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or dermatologist before adding ginseng, but please don't stop your Tremfya on your own.

About Guselkumab Injection

What Is Guselkumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Tremfya

Tremfya (guselkumab) injection is approved to treat adults and children 6 years of age and older who weigh at least 40 kg (about 88 lbs) with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis or active psoriatic arthritis. It is also approved for adults with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease.

For plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, Tremfya is an option when systemic therapy or phototherapy is appropriate. For ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, Tremfya is approved for adult patients only — it has not been established as safe and effective for children with those conditions.
