Androstenetrione and Pramlintide

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Pramlintide and Androstenetrione in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Pramlintide

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Pramlintide is filed under a single classification — antidiabetes drugs. Androstenetrione has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being androgens (minor) — and none of Pramlintide’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What Androstenetrione Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Pramlintide. It is the side-effect record for Androstenetrione on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Androstenetrione, this list is the first place to look.

“There is no data regarding oral use of androstenetrione in humans. However, androstenetrione might increase testosterone levels. Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Androstenetrione — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Pramlintide’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Pramlintide column appears here.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Pramlintide

This page covers Androstenetrione only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Pramlintide page lists 239 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

The most serious there right now: Siberian Cocklebur (major), Acai (moderate), African Wild Potato (moderate), Agaricus Mushroom (moderate) and Agmatine (moderate).

By severity: 1 major · 208 moderate · 30 minor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Pramlintide page

“The single entry rated major on the pramlintide (Symlin) list is Siberian cocklebur, which has caused severe hypoglycemia in humans, not just in lab studies. That matters more than usual here because pramlintide is injected at mealtimes alongside insulin, and a dangerous low is already the main hazard of that pairing.”

About Androstenetrione

What is Androstenetrione?

Androstenetrione
  • Boosting testosterone
  • Lowering estrogen
  • Bodybuilding and muscle building
  • Post-cycle support for steroid users
  • Athletic performance

Androstenetrione (6-OXO) is a synthetic compound marketed to raise testosterone by blocking the enzyme that turns testosterone into estrogen. Solid human evidence that it offers real benefits is lacking, and it can cause hormone-related side effects, so most people should avoid it and talk with a healthcare provider first.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Androstenetrione is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Androstenetrione record says about it on its own.

Androstenetrione: dosing

There is no established, standardized dose for androstenetrione, and no dose has been proven safe and effective. Different products contain different amounts.Because of the hormone-related risks and weak evidence, we cannot recommend a specific amount.

About Pramlintide Injection

What Is Pramlintide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Symlin

SymlinPen (pramlintide) is used as an add-on treatment for adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who already use mealtime insulin but still haven't reached their target blood sugar levels — even with optimal insulin therapy.

It is not a replacement for insulin. It works alongside insulin, given right before major meals, to reduce the spike in blood sugar that happens after eating.
