No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Angostura and Aminophylline in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Angostura and Aminophylline

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Aminophylline and Angostura in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Angostura at all — not against Aminophylline, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Angostura safety at a glance

Angostura overall Use caution Considered safe in tiny amounts as a food flavoring, but medicinal doses are not well studied and large amounts can be harmful.
Pregnancy Avoid Not enough safety information is available, so it is best avoided during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding Avoid There is no reliable safety data, so avoid medicinal use while breastfeeding.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

What Angostura Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Aminophylline. It is the side-effect record for Angostura on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Angostura, this list is the first place to look.

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Angostura — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We haven’t matched Aminophylline to its FDA label in our system yet, so we can’t compare its own side-effect list here — the leaflet that comes with your prescription is the authoritative list for Aminophylline.

About Angostura

What is Angostura?

Angostura
  • Digestive upset and poor appetite
  • Fever
  • Diarrhea
  • Malaria prevention (traditional)
  • Muscle spasms

Angostura is the bark of a South American tree traditionally used to ease digestion, fevers, and stomach problems. Modern human evidence to support these uses is very limited, and large doses can cause vomiting and other harmful effects. It is best known today as a historic flavoring ingredient, and you should talk with a pharmacist or doctor before using it medicinally.

Angostura trifoliata · Rutaceae · Bark · Bark powder, tincture, extract, and as a flavoring in some alcoholic beverages

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Angostura is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Angostura record says about it on its own.

Angostura: dosing

There is no well-established, standardized medicinal dose for angostura. Traditional uses vary widely, and there is not enough reliable research to recommend a safe and effective amount. If you choose to use a product that contains angostura, follow the directions on the product label and do not exceed them, since larger amounts can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

About Aminophylline

What Is Aminophylline Used For?

Brand name: Aminophylline

Aminophylline Injection is given intravenously (by IV) in a hospital or clinical setting to help open the airways during a severe asthma attack or an acute worsening of chronic lung conditions such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. It is used alongside inhaled beta-2 agonist inhalers and corticosteroids — not as a standalone treatment.

It works to relieve the reversible airflow blockage that makes it hard to breathe during these acute episodes.

Most-Reported Side Effects for Aminophylline

From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (1,970 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.
