Animal-assisted Therapy + Carboplatin
Carboplatin brand name: Paraplatin.
We found no known interaction between Animal-assisted Therapy and Carboplatin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Animal-assisted Therapy and Carboplatin
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Carboplatin and Animal-assisted Therapy in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Animal-assisted Therapy alongside specific medications may be limited.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Animal-assisted Therapy at all — not against Carboplatin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
Animal-assisted Therapy is a treatment rather than something you take. Tell whoever provides it which medicines you use, and ask your prescriber whether it is appropriate for your health and treatment. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Carboplatin
This page covers Animal-assisted Therapy only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Carboplatin page lists 27 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Acerola (moderate), Alpha-lipoic Acid (moderate), Coenzyme Q10 (moderate) and Coffee Charcoal (moderate).
By severity: 1 major · 15 moderate · 11 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Carboplatin page
“Activated charcoal is the one major-rated interaction among the 27 supplements on carboplatin's list, and it earns that spot because charcoal can lower exposure to many drugs even when they are given by vein, as carboplatin (Paraplatin) is. This is chemotherapy, so anything that blunts it puts the treatment itself at risk, and I would…”

Where Animal-assisted Therapy and Carboplatin Sit Against Everything Else
Out of every supplement and medication people look up on HelloPharmacist, here is where these two land this week — and which way each has been moving.
#1,417 of 1,452 supplements looked up here in the last 7 days
#2,209 of 2,830 medications looked up here in the last 7 days
Position among everything looked up on this site, not a measure of how commonly either one is used or how important it is. A supplement can climb this list because of a news story. It counts every request to the page, automated ones included, and nothing here identifies anyone.
Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.
- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Animal-assisted Therapy reference on this page ↓

- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Animal-assisted Therapy
What is Animal-assisted Therapy?
- Anxiety and stress
- Depression and low mood
- Loneliness and social isolation
- Pain and comfort during hospital stays
- Support for children with autism or developmental needs
- Rehabilitation and physical therapy motivation
Animal-assisted therapy uses trained animals, guided by professionals, to support emotional and physical well-being. Many people find it comforting and it appears generally low-risk, but high-quality evidence for treating specific medical conditions is still limited. It is best used alongside, not instead of, standard medical care.
Not applicable (this is a therapy, not an herb or supplement) · Sessions with trained therapy animals such as dogs, horses, cats, or other animals, guided by a handler or health professional
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Animal-assisted Therapy is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Animal-assisted Therapy record says about it on its own.
Animal-assisted Therapy: dosing
There is no standard dose for animal-assisted therapy. The number, length, and frequency of sessions are usually tailored to the person and their goals by the therapist or program running it.If you are interested in AAT, ask about programs run through reputable hospitals, clinics, or certified therapy-animal organizations. A pharmacist or doctor can help you decide if it is a reasonable addition to your care, especially if you have allergies or a weakened immune system.

Carboplatin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Carboplatin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Animal-assisted Therapy — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
