Apitherapy and Ibuprofen

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Ibuprofen and Apitherapy in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Apitherapy alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Apitherapy at all — not against Ibuprofen, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Apitherapy is a treatment rather than something you take. Tell whoever provides it which medicines you use, and ask your prescriber whether it is appropriate for your health and treatment. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Ibuprofen’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Apitherapy. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Ibuprofen’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you have Apitherapy and take the medicine. 8 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Bleeding in the gut Worth acting on
  • High potassium Worth acting on
  • Heart failure Worth acting on
  • Kidney problems Worth acting on
  • Anemia Worth acting on
  • Raised blood pressure Worth acting on
  • Liver problems Worth acting on
  • Bleeding or bruising Worth acting on
  • Bloating or gas
  • Fever

Showing the 10 most notable of 15 label-listed effects — ranked by how unusual each one is across medicines generally, with serious effects weighted up.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Ibuprofen. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 283,500 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Ibuprofen that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Apitherapy’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Apitherapy side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Apitherapy has no side effects.

About Apitherapy

What is Apitherapy?

  • Joint pain and arthritis
  • Multiple sclerosis symptoms
  • Wound and skin care
  • Allergies (with bee pollen)
  • General wellness and immune support

Apitherapy is the use of honeybee products such as bee venom, propolis, royal jelly, honey, and bee pollen for health purposes. Solid scientific evidence for most claimed benefits is limited, and bee venom in particular can trigger dangerous allergic reactions. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before trying it, especially if you have allergies.

Honey bee products (honey, bee venom, propolis, royal jelly, bee pollen) and bee stings · Bee venom injections, live bee stings, topical creams, capsules, lozenges, tinctures, raw honey

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Apitherapy is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Apitherapy record says about it on its own.

Apitherapy: dosing

There is no standardized dose for apitherapy. The right amount depends heavily on which bee product is used and the form it comes in, and many products are not tightly regulated.Bee venom therapy is not a do-it-yourself treatment and should only be done by a trained practitioner under medical supervision.
