Here's the key concern with pairing asarabacca and hydroflumethiazide (Saluron). This water pill helps your body get rid of extra fluid, but it works the kidneys hard and can sometimes nudge kidney function in the wrong direction, especially if you get dehydrated. Asarabacca is worrisome because it's often contaminated with aristolochic acid, a compound the FDA flags as a real kidney toxin. Stacking the two could add up to more strain on your kidneys.

The evidence here is fairly limited, but the safety signal for aristolochic acid is serious enough that I'd steer clear of asarabacca entirely. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using any product like this, and don't change your hydroflumethiazide on your own.
