Clopidogrel falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Bear's Garlic interacts with.

In vitro research shows that bear's garlic and some of its constituents can inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, bear's garlic might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the simple version: Plavix (clopidogrel) already works by keeping your platelets from clumping together, which lowers your odds of a clot. Bear's garlic, in test-tube studies, seems to nudge platelets in that same direction. Stack the two and you could, in theory, tip a little too far toward easy bleeding, things like more bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that are slow to stop.

The good news is that this concern comes only from lab research, not from people, so it's more of a 'keep an eye out' than a red alert. Enjoying bear's garlic as a food is unlikely to be a problem. Concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark. Before adding any, please check with your pharmacist or doctor, and never stop your Plavix on your own.

What Is Clopidogrel Used For?

Clopidogrel tablets are used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) — including unstable angina and non-ST-elevation or ST-elevation heart attacks — and in people with a history of recent heart attack, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease. For ACS, it is typically given alongside aspirin.

It works by preventing platelets (blood cells that trigger clotting) from clumping together, which helps keep arteries open and lowers the chance of a dangerous clot forming.
