Blueberry + Buspirone
Buspirone brand name: BuSpar.
Blueberry has a minor interaction with Buspirone. Theoretically, blueberry juice might increase blood levels of buspirone.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
BUSPIRONE (BuSpar)
In vitro research shows that blueberry juice can inhibit the metabolism of buspirone, possibly by inhibiting cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) enzymes. However, pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that drinking 300 mL of blueberry juice 30 minutes before taking buspirone hydrochloride 10 mg does not significantly affect the concentration or clearance of buspirone.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the short version: this one looks pretty harmless. The idea is that blueberry juice might slow down the enzyme (called CYP3A) that your body uses to break down buspirone. If that happened in a big way, buspirone could build up a little, which in theory could mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness.
But here's the reassuring part. While lab dish studies hinted at this, an actual study in people found that drinking about a cup of blueberry juice before a buspirone dose did not meaningfully change buspirone levels. So this is mostly theoretical. Eating blueberries as food is no concern at all. If you're using a concentrated blueberry extract daily, just mention it to your pharmacist so they can keep an eye on things.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Buspirone page
“I counsel genuine caution when supplements meet buspirone (BuSpar), the anxiety medication, because four of its 155 documented interactions are rated major. The bulk of the list, 121 ingredients, changes how your liver clears buspirone through the CYP3A4 enzyme, pushing its level up toward dizziness and drowsiness or down until the anx…”

About Blueberry
What is Blueberry?
- Antioxidant support
- Heart health
- Brain and memory health
- Blood sugar support
- Eye health
- Urinary health
Blueberries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants called anthocyanins, and eating them as part of a balanced diet is healthy and safe for most people. Concentrated supplements are marketed for heart, brain, and blood sugar health, but the evidence is mostly early and not strong enough to promise specific benefits. Enjoy blueberries as food, and talk to your pharmacist before using high-dose extracts.
About Buspirone
What Is Buspirone Used For?
Brand name: BuSpar
Buspirone tablets and capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or to relieve anxiety symptoms in the short term. Its effectiveness has been shown in clinical trials focused on Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) — a condition marked by persistent, hard-to-control worry along with physical symptoms like muscle tension, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and sleep problems.
Buspirone has also been shown to relieve anxiety in people who have mild depressive symptoms alongside their anxiety. Everyday stress and tension, on their own, generally do not require treatment with a medicine like buspirone.
