Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Saxagliptin
Saxagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Blueberry interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that blueberry and/or blueberry leaf extracts can lower blood glucose levels.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the simple version: blueberries are good for you, and eating them won't cause trouble with your saxagliptin (Onglyza). The concern on file is purely theoretical and comes from lab and animal studies, where concentrated blueberry or blueberry leaf extracts seemed to nudge blood sugar down a little on their own. In theory, stacking that effect on top of a blood sugar medicine could push your numbers lower than expected.
In real life this is rated minor and unlikely, especially since saxagliptin mostly works after meals and rarely causes low blood sugar by itself. Eating blueberries as food is completely fine. If you want to take a high-dose blueberry extract, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye out for shakiness, sweating, or dizziness.

The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major), Acai (moderate), African Wild Potato (moderate) and Agaricus Mushroom (moderate).
By severity: 2 major · 215 moderate · 39 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Saxagliptin page
“Siberian cocklebur is the one supplement anyone on saxagliptin (Onglyza) for type 2 diabetes should avoid outright. Its seeds have caused severe hypoglycemia in people, dropping blood sugar soon after consumption and often worsening from there.”

About Blueberry
What is Blueberry?
- Antioxidant support
- Heart health
- Brain and memory health
- Blood sugar support
- Eye health
- Urinary health
Blueberries are a nutritious fruit rich in antioxidants called anthocyanins, and eating them as part of a balanced diet is healthy and safe for most people. Concentrated supplements are marketed for heart, brain, and blood sugar health, but the evidence is mostly early and not strong enough to promise specific benefits. Enjoy blueberries as food, and talk to your pharmacist before using high-dose extracts.

Saxagliptin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Saxagliptin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Blueberry — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
