Dwarf Elder + Lithium Carbonate (prescription drug)
Lithium Carbonate (prescription drug) brand names: Eskalith, Lithium Carbonate.
We found no known interaction between Dwarf Elder and Lithium Carbonate (prescription drug) in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Dwarf Elder and Lithium Carbonate (prescription drug)
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Lithium Carbonate (prescription drug) and Dwarf Elder in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Dwarf Elder at all — not against Lithium Carbonate (prescription drug), and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

About Dwarf Elder
What is Dwarf Elder?
- Joint pain and swelling
- Colds and respiratory complaints
- Skin irritation (topical)
- Constipation
- Fluid retention
Dwarf Elder is a traditional European herb used mostly in folk medicine for joint pain, swelling, and minor ailments, but there is very little high-quality human research to confirm it works. Raw or unripe parts can be toxic and cause stomach upset, so it should be used cautiously and avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Always talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it.

About Lithium
What Is Lithium Used For?
Brand names: Eskalith, Lithium Carbonate
Lithium is used for bipolar disorder. It treats manic episodes and is also used as maintenance treatment to reduce how often manic episodes happen and how intense they are.
Newer lithium labels (tablets, capsules and oral solution) describe use alone (monotherapy) for bipolar I disorder. This includes acute manic and mixed episodes and maintenance treatment in patients 7 years and older. Some older lithium carbonate extended-release tablet and capsule labels describe use in adults with manic episodes of bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness) and for maintenance.
