What Is Primaquine Used For?

Brand name: Primaquine

Primaquine Phosphate Tablets are indicated for the radical cure of vivax malaria — specifically, to prevent relapse by eliminating the dormant liver forms (hypnozoites) of Plasmodium vivax that survive after the initial infection is treated.

It is also used after a course of chloroquine phosphate in people who have had vivax malaria or who are completing malaria-suppression therapy in an area where vivax malaria is common.
