This combo cold product has a few players, but the one that matters here is dextromethorphan, the cough suppressant. Your body relies on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to break it down. In lab dishes, feverfew appears to slow that enzyme, which could in theory let dextromethorphan build up a bit more than usual.

If that happened, you might feel more drowsy, dizzy, or lightheaded than the medicine normally causes. Honestly though, this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube research. It has never been reported in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The chlorpheniramine in this product can already make you sleepy on its own. To be safe, just run it by your pharmacist before pairing feverfew with this cold medicine.

Here's the short version on combining feverfew with your multi-symptom cold product. In a test tube, feverfew appears to slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. If that happened in your body, drugs cleared by that enzyme could build up a bit. The piece of your cold medicine most tied to CYP1A2 is the dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant), so in theory you might feel more of its effects, like drowsiness or feeling foggy or dizzy.

The honest part: this is based only on lab work and has never actually been reported in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Acetaminophen is mostly handled by other pathways. Still, since cold products already cause sleepiness, just check with your pharmacist before pairing them.

If that held true in people, dextromethorphan could build up a bit, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy.
