Graviola (soursop) is a tropical fruit tree whose leaves, fruit, and bark are used in traditional medicine, especially in parts of South America, Africa, and Asia. Despite popular online claims that it fights cancer, there is no reliable human evidence that it treats or cures any disease, and animal research raises concerns that it may harm nerve cells. About Vigabatrin

What Is Vigabatrin Used For?

Brand name: Sabril

Vigabatrin is used to treat two types of seizure conditions. For refractory complex partial seizures (seizures that have not responded well to other treatments), vigabatrin oral solution and tablets are used as an add-on therapy in patients 2 years of age and older — it is not a first-line treatment. Sabril, Vigadrone, and vigabatrin-branded products carry this indication.

For infantile spasms — a specific type of seizure disorder in very young children — vigabatrin oral solution is used as a standalone (monotherapy) treatment in infants 1 month to 2 years of age. Vigafyde oral solution is indicated specifically for infantile spasms monotherapy in this same age group. In all cases, treatment is only appropriate when the potential benefits outweigh the risk of permanent vision loss.
