Healing Touch and Clopidogrel

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Clopidogrel and Healing Touch in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Healing Touch alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Healing Touch at all — not against Clopidogrel, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Healing Touch is a treatment rather than something you take. Tell whoever provides it which medicines you use, and ask your prescriber whether it is appropriate for your health and treatment. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Healing Touch safety at a glance

Healing Touch overall Use caution Generally low-risk as a complementary practice, but it should never replace proven medical treatment.
Pregnancy Use caution No oral product is involved, but discuss any complementary therapy with your prenatal provider first.
Breastfeeding Use caution There is no ingredient to pass into milk, but check with your doctor before relying on it for any health concern.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

What Clopidogrel’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Healing Touch. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Clopidogrel’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you have Healing Touch and take the medicine. One of them is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Bleeding or bruising Worth acting on

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Clopidogrel. Read the label on DailyMed › Healing Touch’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Healing Touch side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Healing Touch has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clopidogrel page

“Clopidogrel (Plavix) keeps platelets from sticking together after a stent, heart attack, or stroke, which makes this a list to take carefully. About Healing Touch

What is Healing Touch?

  • Stress and relaxation
  • Pain management
  • Anxiety
  • Comfort during illness or cancer care
  • General sense of well-being

Healing Touch is an energy-based therapy in which a trained practitioner uses gentle or near-body hand movements to promote relaxation and well-being—it is not an herb, pill, or supplement. Some people report feeling calmer and less stressed after sessions, but high-quality scientific evidence that it treats any specific medical condition is limited. It is generally considered low-risk when used alongside (not instead of) standard medical care.

Not applicable (an energy-based therapy, not a plant or supplement) · Hands-on or hands-near-body sessions provided by a trained practitioner

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Healing Touch is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Healing Touch record says about it on its own.

Healing Touch: dosing

There is no standardized "dose" for Healing Touch because it is a hands-on practice, not a product you take. Session length and frequency vary by practitioner and are often around a half hour to an hour.If you are interested, look for a certified or experienced practitioner, and let your doctor or pharmacist know you are using it so it can be coordinated with your regular care.

About Clopidogrel

What Is Clopidogrel Used For?

Brand name: Plavix

Clopidogrel tablets are used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) — including unstable angina and non-ST-elevation or ST-elevation heart attacks — and in people with a history of recent heart attack, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease. For ACS, it is typically given alongside aspirin.

It works by preventing platelets (blood cells that trigger clotting) from clumping together, which helps keep arteries open and lowers the chance of a dangerous clot forming.

Most-Reported Side Effects for Clopidogrel
