Hyacinth Bean + Etomidate
Etomidate brand name: Amidate.
We found no known interaction between Hyacinth Bean and Etomidate in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Hyacinth Bean and Etomidate
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Etomidate and Hyacinth Bean in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Hyacinth Bean at all — not against Etomidate, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Etomidate
This page covers Hyacinth Bean only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Etomidate page lists 5 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Fever Bark (major), Cannabis (moderate), Cowhage (moderate), Datura Wrightii (moderate) and Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (thc) (moderate).
By severity: 1 major · 4 moderate.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Etomidate page
“Etomidate is not a pill you take at home. It is an intravenous drug used to put you under quickly for surgery or emergency procedures, and that shapes what this short list of five interacting supplements means.”

- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Hyacinth Bean reference on this page ↓
- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified September 20, 2026. The Hyacinth Bean and Etomidate records this page draws on were last updated July 10, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Hyacinth Bean
What is Hyacinth Bean?
- Digestive upset and diarrhea
- Nausea and poor appetite
- General nourishment
- Traditional summer 'heat' remedy
- Mild fatigue or weakness
Hyacinth bean is a widely grown food legume that is also used in traditional medicine, mainly for digestive complaints. The cooked beans are eaten as food in many countries, but the raw or undercooked beans contain natural toxins and must be thoroughly cooked. Strong human evidence for its medicinal uses is lacking, so treat any health claims with caution and talk to your pharmacist or doctor.

As a food, it is simply prepared and eaten like other dried beans after thorough soaking and cooking. For any supplement or traditional preparation, follow the directions on the product label and do not exceed the recommended amount.

About Etomidate
What Is Etomidate Used For?
Brand name: Amidate
Etomidate — available as Amidate and under the generic name Etomidate — is given by intravenous (IV) injection to induce general anesthesia before surgery or other procedures. It brings on unconsciousness rapidly, usually within about one minute.
Amidate and etomidate injection products are also used to supplement weaker anesthetic agents, such as nitrous oxide in oxygen, during short operative procedures — for example, dilation and curettage (D&C) or cervical conization. This supplemental use is supported only for adult patients in short procedures; it is not recommended for longer procedures or for pediatric patients.
