Hypnotherapy + Allopurinol
Allopurinol brand names: Zyloprim, Caplenal, Cosuric, Rimapurinol, Zyloric.
We found no known interaction between Hypnotherapy and Allopurinol in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Hypnotherapy and Allopurinol
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Allopurinol and Hypnotherapy in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Hypnotherapy alongside specific medications may be limited.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Hypnotherapy at all — not against Allopurinol, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
Hypnotherapy is a treatment rather than something you take. Tell whoever provides it which medicines you use, and ask your prescriber whether it is appropriate for your health and treatment. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.
Hypnotherapy safety at a glance
Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Hypnotherapy in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
When hypnotherapy is used appropriately. Use of self-hypnosis during labor following teaching sessions during pregnancy has not been shown to affect birthweight, well-being of the newborn, admission or re-admission for neonatal care, maternal stay in the hospital, readmission to hospital, lactation establishment, or ability to care for the infant. However, the use of hypnotherapy should not delay the time to diagnosis or treatment with more proven therapies.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Allopurinol page
“Allopurinol (Zyloprim) prevents gout attacks by lowering uric acid, and I would give this list real weight, because 5 of the 60 supplements and herbs on file carry a major rating. The largest cluster, 38 ingredients, is products that can stress the liver on their own, and regular beer or wine sits in that major group, since alcohol on…”

Where Hypnotherapy and Allopurinol Sit Against Everything Else
Out of every supplement and medication people look up on HelloPharmacist, here is where these two land this week — and which way each has been moving.
#1,043 of 1,452 supplements looked up here in the last 7 days
#908 of 2,830 medications looked up here in the last 7 days
Position among everything looked up on this site, not a measure of how commonly either one is used or how important it is. A supplement can climb this list because of a news story. It counts every request to the page, automated ones included, and nothing here identifies anyone.
Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.
- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Hypnotherapy reference on this page ↓
- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified September 20, 2026. The Hypnotherapy and Allopurinol records this page draws on were last updated July 11, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy?
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Anxiety and stress
- Pain management
- Smoking cessation
- Sleep problems
- Habit and weight management
Hypnotherapy is a mind-body technique where a trained therapist guides you into a focused, relaxed state to help you change thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. It is not a supplement or herb, and when done by a qualified professional it is generally considered safe. Evidence is strongest for conditions like irritable bowel syndrome and certain types of pain, but results vary from person to person.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Hypnotherapy is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Hypnotherapy record says about it on its own.
Hypnotherapy: dosing
There is no standard "dose" for hypnotherapy because it is a therapy, not a substance. Treatment is usually given as a series of sessions with a trained therapist, and the number of sessions varies based on your goals and the condition being treated. Many programs involve several weekly sessions, and you may also practice self-hypnosis or use guided recordings between visits. Follow the plan recommended by your qualified provider.

About Allopurinol
What Is Allopurinol Used For?
Brand names: Zyloprim, Caplenal, Cosuric, Rimapurinol, Zyloric
Allopurinol tablets (including Zyloprim) are used in adults to treat the signs and symptoms of gout — including gout attacks, tophi (uric acid deposits), joint damage, and kidney problems caused by uric acid. Allopurinol tablets are also used in adults to reduce recurrent calcium oxalate kidney stones when uric acid in the urine is too high, even after lifestyle changes.
For adults and children with leukemia, lymphoma, or solid tumor cancers, allopurinol is used to control uric acid levels that rise during cancer treatment. The injectable forms — Allopurinol sodium for injection and Aloprim — are specifically for patients who cannot take medicine by mouth and are given intravenously (through a vein) in a hospital or clinical setting. Note: allopurinol tablets are not recommended for people who have high uric acid levels but no symptoms.
Most-Reported Side Effects for Allopurinol
From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (0 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.
