Drug & supplement interaction

Hypnotherapy + Omalizumab

Omalizumab brand name: Xolair.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Hypnotherapy and Omalizumab in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Hypnotherapy and Omalizumab

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Omalizumab and Hypnotherapy in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Hypnotherapy alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Hypnotherapy at all — not against Omalizumab, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Hypnotherapy is a treatment rather than something you take. Tell whoever provides it which medicines you use, and ask your prescriber whether it is appropriate for your health and treatment. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Hypnotherapy and Omalizumab May Share a Side Effect

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so having Hypnotherapy while taking the medicine can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do.

Hypnotherapy in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Pregnancy Possibly Safe

When hypnotherapy is used appropriately. Use of self-hypnosis during labor following teaching sessions during pregnancy has not been shown to affect birthweight, well-being of the newborn, admission or re-admission for neonatal care, maternal stay in the hospital, readmission to hospital, lactation establishment, or ability to care for the infant. However, the use of hypnotherapy should not delay the time to diagnosis or treatment with more proven therapies.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Omalizumab page

“None of the 53 supplements on file for omalizumab (Xolair) carries a major rating, so this is a list to read with steady attention rather than alarm. Xolair treats allergic asthma and chronic hives by calming part of the immune system, and every entry here pulls the other way: these are immune-stimulating products, echinacea and astrag…”

About Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy?

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Pain management
  • Smoking cessation
  • Sleep problems
  • Habit and weight management

Hypnotherapy is a mind-body technique where a trained therapist guides you into a focused, relaxed state to help you change thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. It is not a supplement or herb, and when done by a qualified professional it is generally considered safe. Evidence is strongest for conditions like irritable bowel syndrome and certain types of pain, but results vary from person to person.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Hypnotherapy is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Hypnotherapy record says about it on its own.

Hypnotherapy: dosing

There is no standard "dose" for hypnotherapy because it is a therapy, not a substance. Treatment is usually given as a series of sessions with a trained therapist, and the number of sessions varies based on your goals and the condition being treated. Many programs involve several weekly sessions, and you may also practice self-hypnosis or use guided recordings between visits. Follow the plan recommended by your qualified provider.

About Omalizumab Injection

What Is Omalizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Xolair

Xolair is used for several allergy-driven conditions. It treats moderate to severe persistent asthma in adults and children 6 and older whose symptoms aren't controlled by inhaled steroids alone and who test positive for a year-round airborne allergen. It is also used as an add-on maintenance treatment for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ongoing sinus inflammation with polyp growths) in adults 18 and older who haven't responded well to nasal corticosteroids.

Xolair is also approved to reduce allergic reactions — including anaphylaxis — from accidental food exposure in adults and children aged 1 and older with IgE-mediated food allergy. It must be used alongside strict food avoidance, and it is not a substitute for emergency treatment like epinephrine. Finally, Xolair treats chronic spontaneous urticaria (persistent hives with no identified trigger) in adults and adolescents 12 and older who still have symptoms despite antihistamine treatment.
