Here's the thing to keep in mind: both of these lower your blood pressure, just in different ways. Iloprost (Ventavis) is an inhaled vasodilator that relaxes blood vessels, and Indian snakeroot contains reserpine, which also brings blood pressure down. Stack them together and those effects can add up, which may push your pressure lower than you want.

What that can feel like is dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, a flushed face, or a headache, especially when you stand up quickly. This concern is mostly theoretical, but reserpine is a genuinely potent compound, so I wouldn't take it lightly. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining these, since your PAH treatment needs careful, steady management.

Indian snakeroot contains small amounts of the drug yohimbine. In vitro research shows that yohimbine inhibits platelet aggregation.

Here's the situation with iloprost (Ventavis) and Indian snakeroot. Iloprost not only relaxes blood vessels in your lungs, it also makes your platelets a bit less sticky, which can slightly raise bleeding risk on its own. Indian snakeroot contains tiny amounts of yohimbine, and in lab dish studies that compound also kept platelets from clumping together. So on paper, combining the two could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher, meaning easier bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube research, not on real patients. Indian snakeroot also carries its own blood-pressure-lowering punch, which is its bigger worry. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before mixing these.

Aurlumyn (iloprost injection) is FDA-approved to treat severe frostbite in adults. Specifically, it is used to reduce the risk of losing fingers or toes (digit amputation) after serious frostbite injury. The clinical evidence supporting this use comes from young, healthy adults who suffered frostbite at high altitudes.
