Juice Fasting and Epoetin Beta

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Epoetin Beta and Juice Fasting in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Juice Fasting alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Juice Fasting at all — not against Epoetin Beta, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Juice Fasting is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Juice Fasting Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Epoetin Beta. It is the side-effect record for Juice Fasting on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Juice Fasting, this list is the first place to look. 3 entries are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • An electrolyte imbalance Worth acting on Additional detail

“There is currently a limited amount of reliable information available on the adverse effects of juice fasting. However, juice fasts do not provide adequate nutrition and involve the consumption of large quantities of water, which can lead to electrolyte imbalances when used short-term and malnutrition when used long-term.”

  • Dehydration Worth acting on Additional detail

“There are multiple case reports of oxalate-induced kidney injury in adults who are participating in juice fasts. It is likely that this kidney injury is due in part to the significant increase in oxalate consumption, as well as the reduction in calcium intake, that occurs during a juice fast.

In one case report, a 65-year-old female developed acute oxalate nephropathy that progressed to end-stage renal disease after…”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Juice Fasting — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Epoetin Beta’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Epoetin Beta column appears here.

About Juice Fasting

What is Juice Fasting?

  • Weight loss
  • Detoxification or 'cleansing'
  • Boosting fruit and vegetable intake
  • Improving energy or well-being
  • Resetting eating habits

Juice fasting means consuming only fruit and vegetable juices for a set period, often marketed for 'detox' or quick weight loss. There is little solid evidence that it cleanses the body or offers lasting health benefits, and your liver and kidneys already remove toxins on their own. Short juice fasts are low-risk for healthy adults, but they can be unsafe for some people, so check with a pharmacist or doctor first.

Fruit and vegetable juices · Fresh-pressed (cold-pressed) juices, store-bought juice blends, commercial juice-cleanse programs

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Juice Fasting is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Juice Fasting record says about it on its own.

Juice Fasting: dosing

There is no standardized or medically established way to do a juice fast. Programs vary widely in how many juices are consumed per day and how long the fast lasts. If you choose to try a short juice fast, keeping it brief (about one to three days), staying well hydrated with water, and easing back into solid food gradually are common-sense steps.
