Here's the gist with zopiclone, your sleep aid: karaya gum is a bulky fiber that swells into a gel in your stomach. That gel can grab onto pills sitting nearby and slow or trap a bit of them, which might mean your body absorbs slightly less zopiclone. If that happened, you could notice it working a little less well, taking longer to help you drift off.

Honestly, this is a theoretical concern based on how fiber behaves, not something proven in studies, and it's rated minor. The simple fix is timing: take your zopiclone first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before the karaya gum. Run it past your pharmacist if you'd like reassurance.

Karaya gum is a natural plant gum from the Sterculia tree that is mostly used as a bulk-forming laxative and as a thickener or adhesive in food, dental, and ostomy products. As a fiber-type laxative it may help with occasional constipation, but high-quality evidence is limited, and it should be taken with plenty of water to avoid choking or blockage. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have swallowing problems or bowel conditions.
