Monolaurin and Fluvoxamine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Fluvoxamine and Monolaurin in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Monolaurin at all — not against Fluvoxamine, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Fluvoxamine page

“Fluvoxamine (Luvox), an SSRI used for OCD and depression, carries an interaction list that deserves genuinely careful reading. Two entries matter most: lithium, which alongside a serotonin-raising drug like fluvoxamine can tip toward serotonin syndrome, a dangerous excess of serotonin, and activated charcoal, which can soak up the medi…”

About Monolaurin

What is Monolaurin?

Monolaurin
  • Immune support
  • Viral infections (such as herpes or colds)
  • Antibacterial support
  • Yeast and fungal concerns
  • General antimicrobial use

Monolaurin is a compound made from lauric acid, a fatty acid found in coconut oil and breast milk, and it is marketed mostly for immune and antimicrobial support. While laboratory studies suggest it can disrupt certain bacteria, viruses, and fungi, strong human evidence is lacking, so its real-world benefits remain unproven. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a health condition.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Monolaurin is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Monolaurin record says about it on its own.

Monolaurin: dosing

There is no officially established or standardized dose for monolaurin. Studies have used different amounts, and there is no strong human evidence to recommend a specific dose for any condition.Because products vary widely in strength and form, the best approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed the suggested amount. They can help you decide whether it is appropriate for you.
