Ribociclib Succinate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Oregon Grape interacts with.

Theoretically, Oregon grape might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of Oregon grape, moderately inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4).

Here's the gist with Kisqali (ribociclib) and Oregon grape. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down ribociclib. Oregon grape contains berberine, which may modestly slow that same enzyme down. If clearance slows, more ribociclib could linger in your blood, which can nudge up its side effects. Think more nausea, fatigue, low blood counts, or changes in your heart's rhythm (a longer QT interval), something your team already watches closely with this drug.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based mostly on lab work, not strong human studies. Still, because ribociclib is a serious cancer medicine with real heart and blood monitoring, I'd loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding Oregon grape rather than guessing.

What Is Ribociclib Used For?

Brand name: Kisqali

Kisqali (ribociclib) tablets are used in adults with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. For early breast cancer (stage II or III, at high risk of coming back), Kisqali is given alongside an aromatase inhibitor as adjuvant treatment — meaning treatment after initial surgery to reduce the risk of the cancer returning.

For advanced or metastatic breast cancer (cancer that has spread), Kisqali is used in combination with either an aromatase inhibitor or fulvestrant — as the first hormonal treatment tried, or after the cancer has grown despite prior hormone therapy.
