No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Shea Butter and Digoxin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Shea Butter and Digoxin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Digoxin and Shea Butter in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Shea Butter at all — not against Digoxin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Digoxin. Read the label on DailyMed › Shea Butter’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Shea Butter side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Shea Butter has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Digoxin page

“Digoxin is a heart medicine with a narrow therapeutic index, meaning the gap between a helpful blood level and a harmful one is small, and few drugs give me more pause when supplements enter the picture. The most serious entries here are herbs that themselves contain digoxin-like cardiac glycosides, foxglove and lily-of-the-valley amon…”

About Shea Butter

What is Shea Butter?

  • Dry skin and moisturizing
  • Soothing minor skin irritation
  • Lip and cuticle care
  • Hair and scalp conditioning
  • Reducing the look of stretch marks or scars
  • Massage and cosmetic use

Shea butter is a plant fat from the African shea tree that is widely used as a skin and hair moisturizer. It is generally considered safe for most people when applied to the skin, but most of its beauty and health claims have only limited scientific proof. It is meant for external use, not for swallowing as a supplement.

Vitellaria paradoxa · Sapotaceae · Fat extracted from the nut (seed kernel) · Raw (unrefined) butter, refined butter, lotions, creams, balms, soaps, lip balms

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Shea Butter is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Shea Butter record says about it on its own.

Shea Butter: dosing

There is no standardized dose for shea butter because it is used as a topical cosmetic, not a measured medicine. Most people simply apply a small amount to the skin or hair as needed and rub it in.Follow the directions on the product label, and start with a small amount to see how your skin responds.

About Digoxin

What Is Digoxin Used For?

Brand names: Lanoxicaps, Lanoxin, Digitek

Digoxin treats mild to moderate heart failure in adults. It improves heart failure symptoms and exercise capacity, and it reduces heart failure-related hospitalizations and emergency care. It does not change survival.

It also helps control the resting heart rate in adults with chronic atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). In children with heart failure, the tablet, oral solution and most injection products are used to increase the heart’s pumping strength (myocardial contractility). Some older injection labels list only the adult uses. Digoxin Oral Solution should not be used for multifocal atrial tachycardia.
