Here's the thinking with slippery elm and your Tazverik (tazemetostat). Slippery elm forms a slick, gel-like coating in your gut. The concern is that this gel could act like a physical barrier and slow down or partly block how much of your cancer pill actually gets absorbed into your bloodstream. If less drug gets in, you may get less benefit from a medicine that's doing important work against your sarcoma or lymphoma.

I'll be honest: this is a theoretical worry based on how the herb behaves, not on real-world studies with this specific drug, so I don't want to alarm you. To be safe, don't start or stop anything on your own. A simple fix is often spacing the doses several hours apart, but please run that by your oncologist or pharmacist first.

About Tazemetostat

What Is Tazemetostat Used For?

Brand name: Tazverik

Tazemetostat (sold as Tazverik tablets) treats two types of cancer. The first is epithelioid sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer. It is used in adults and teens aged 16 and older when the cancer has spread or is locally advanced and cannot be completely removed by surgery.

The second is follicular lymphoma that has come back or stopped responding to treatment. It is used in adults whose tumors have an EZH2 mutation and who have had at least 2 prior systemic therapies. It is also used in adults with no satisfactory alternative options. These uses were approved under accelerated approval, so further studies must confirm the benefit.
