Sugar Busters Diet and Rifapentine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rifapentine and Sugar Busters Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Sugar Busters Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Sugar Busters Diet at all — not against Rifapentine, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Sugar Busters Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rifapentine page

“Rifapentine (Priftin) treats tuberculosis and is often dosed just once or twice a week, so a single blunted dose costs more than it would with a daily pill. That is why I read this list of 64 interacting supplements as a real warning rather than routine fine print.”

About Sugar Busters Diet

What is Sugar Busters Diet?

  • Weight loss
  • Blood sugar control
  • Type 2 diabetes management
  • Lowering cholesterol and triglycerides
  • Reducing refined sugar intake

The Sugar Busters Diet is an eating plan, not a herb or supplement. It encourages cutting refined sugar and high-glycemic carbohydrates while focusing on lean proteins, whole grains, vegetables, and healthy fats. It may help some people lose weight and improve blood sugar, but it works mainly because it cuts calories and refined carbs—talk to your doctor or dietitian before starting any new diet.

Books, meal plans, low-glycemic food choices

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Sugar Busters Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Sugar Busters Diet record says about it on its own.

Sugar Busters Diet: dosing

There is no "dose" for the Sugar Busters Diet because it is an eating pattern, not a pill. Instead, people follow the plan's guidelines on which foods to choose and which to limit, focusing on low-glycemic, whole foods. The healthiest approach is to aim for balanced meals with vegetables, lean protein, healthy fats, and high-fiber whole grains, while limiting added sugar and refined carbs.

About Rifapentine

What Is Rifapentine Used For?

Brand name: Priftin

Rifapentine (brand name Priftin) is used to treat two forms of tuberculosis (TB) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. For active pulmonary TB — an active infection in the lungs — it is approved for patients 12 years and older, always used alongside other TB medicines, never alone. For latent TB infection (LTBI) — where the bacteria are in the body but not causing active illness — it is approved for patients 2 years and older who are at high risk of the infection becoming active, always combined with isoniazid.

Priftin is not appropriate for every TB situation. It should not be used alone at any stage of active TB treatment, and it is not recommended as a once-weekly continuation regimen combined with isoniazid in people living with HIV who have active pulmonary TB, due to a higher risk of treatment failure or relapse.
