Threonine and Omalizumab

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Omalizumab and Threonine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Omalizumab

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Omalizumab is filed under a single classification — immunosuppressants. Threonine has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being nmda antagonists (major) — and none of Omalizumab’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

What Threonine Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Omalizumab. It is the side-effect record for Threonine on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Threonine, this list is the first place to look.

  • Stomach upset / Constipation / Diarrhea Additional detail

“Orally, some patients can experience minor gastrointestinal upset including diarrhea. Other side effects reported in people who have taken threonine include flatus and constipation.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Threonine — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Omalizumab’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Omalizumab column appears here.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Omalizumab page

“None of the 53 supplements on file for omalizumab (Xolair) carries a major rating, so this is a list to read with steady attention rather than alarm. Xolair treats allergic asthma and chronic hives by calming part of the immune system, and every entry here pulls the other way: these are immune-stimulating products, echinacea and astrag…”

About Threonine

What is Threonine?

  • General amino acid/protein support
  • Muscle and tissue health
  • Immune support
  • Nervous system support (as a precursor)
  • Liver health (proposed)

Threonine is an essential amino acid your body needs but cannot make, so you must get it from food or supplements. Most people get plenty from a normal diet, and high-quality evidence for taking it as a separate supplement is limited. If you are considering threonine supplements, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Amino acid (obtained from dietary protein or made synthetically) · Capsules, tablets, powder, and part of amino acid blends; also found in protein-rich foods

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Threonine is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Threonine record says about it on its own.

Threonine: dosing

There is no well-established standard supplement dose of threonine for general health. Studies that have used it for specific medical conditions used different amounts, and those doses were given under medical supervision. If you choose to use a threonine product, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed the recommended amount.

About Omalizumab Injection

What Is Omalizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Xolair

Xolair is used for several allergy-driven conditions. It treats moderate to severe persistent asthma in adults and children 6 and older whose symptoms aren't controlled by inhaled steroids alone and who test positive for a year-round airborne allergen. It is also used as an add-on maintenance treatment for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ongoing sinus inflammation with polyp growths) in adults 18 and older who haven't responded well to nasal corticosteroids.

Xolair is also approved to reduce allergic reactions — including anaphylaxis — from accidental food exposure in adults and children aged 1 and older with IgE-mediated food allergy. It must be used alongside strict food avoidance, and it is not a substitute for emergency treatment like epinephrine. Finally, Xolair treats chronic spontaneous urticaria (persistent hives with no identified trigger) in adults and adolescents 12 and older who still have symptoms despite antihistamine treatment.
