Ciclopirox falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Xanthan Gum interacts with.

Theoretically, xanthan gum can alter the absorption of oral drugs due to its fiber qualities. Xanthan gum slows gastric emptying and has been used to control the release of drugs in tablet formulations. To avoid any alterations in drug absorption, xanthan gum should be taken 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's something worth knowing about ciclopirox: most people use it as a topical product, like a cream, gel, shampoo, or nail lacquer, applied right to the skin or nails. If that's how you're using it, xanthan gum you swallow won't reach it, so there's essentially nothing to worry about.

The interaction on file only applies to medicines you take by mouth. Because xanthan gum is a soluble fiber that forms a gel and slows how fast your stomach empties, it could in theory change how an oral drug is absorbed. This is purely a theoretical concern based on how fiber behaves, not proven harm, and it's rated minor. If you ever take ciclopirox or any pill by mouth, a simple fix is to separate them, taking xanthan gum about 30 to 60 minutes after. When in doubt, ask your pharmacist.
