Sulconazole falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Xanthan Gum interacts with.

Theoretically, xanthan gum can alter the absorption of oral drugs due to its fiber qualities. Xanthan gum slows gastric emptying and has been used to control the release of drugs in tablet formulations. To avoid any alterations in drug absorption, xanthan gum should be taken 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's some good news that should put your mind at ease. The interaction on file talks about xanthan gum's fiber gel possibly slowing down how oral pills are absorbed. But Sulconazole (Exelderm) is a topical cream that you rub directly onto the skin to treat athlete's foot, jock itch, or ringworm. It isn't swallowed, so xanthan gum in your food or drinks has essentially no path to affect it.

Since this concern only applies to medicines taken by mouth, the gut-gel mechanism simply doesn't apply to a cream working on your skin's surface. Keep applying Sulconazole as directed and finish the full course even if things look better. What Is Sulconazole Topical Used For?

Brand name: Exelderm

Sulconazole topical solution 1.0% is used to treat tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea corporis (ringworm of the body), and tinea versicolor (a skin discoloration caused by yeast). These infections are caused by specific fungi, including Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, and Microsporum canis.

Note: Effectiveness has not been proven for tinea pedis (athlete's foot) with the topical solution.
