Xanthan gum slows gastric emptying and has been used to control the release of drugs in tablet formulations. Here's the simple version with Tepotinib (Tepmetko): xanthan gum is a soluble fiber that turns into a thick gel in your stomach. That gel can slow how fast things empty out of your stomach, so in theory it could change how much of your tepotinib dose gets absorbed. This isn't about your liver enzymes, and tepotinib is an active drug (not a prodrug), so we're really just talking about timing and absorption.

Honestly, this concern is theoretical and rated as minor, based on how fiber behaves rather than real cases. Still, with a cancer medicine you want steady, reliable levels. The easy fix is spacing: take your tepotinib first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before any xanthan gum thickener or supplement. Please run your routine by your oncology team or pharmacist first.

Tepmetko (tepotinib) is used to treat adults with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) — lung cancer that has spread — whose tumors carry a specific genetic alteration called a MET exon 14 skipping mutation. A test on tumor tissue or blood is required to confirm this mutation before treatment begins.

This is a targeted therapy, meaning it works against a specific molecular driver of cancer growth rather than attacking all rapidly dividing cells.
