Stenabolic Drug Interactions, Uses, Effectiveness, Safety & More
What is this page for?
First and foremost: how Stenabolic interacts with medications. The heart of this page is the interaction list — every drug Stenabolic is known to interact with, and how serious each one is.
But these pages have grown well beyond that into a full monograph — what Stenabolic is, what people use it for and how strong the evidence is, its safety and side effects, and answers to the questions we’re asked most — written and reviewed by the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases, not medical advice, and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What Severity, Likelihood & Evidence Mean
Severity — How Serious It Can Be
- Major. Clinically significant; generally best avoided, or used only under direct professional supervision.
- Moderate. May need monitoring, a dose adjustment, or separating the times you take each one.
- Minor. Generally not clinically significant, but still worth noting and mentioning to your pharmacist.
- No known interaction. Checked against our sources with nothing documented — not the same as proven safety.
Likelihood — How Well It’s Documented
- Likely. Well-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction
- Probable. Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- Possible. Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists
- Unlikely. Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
Where This Data Comes From
- Interaction records are evidence-graded and sourced from the Natural Medicines database (TRC Healthcare), the same reference used by pharmacists and hospitals.

Stenabolic: Uses, Safety & Side Effects
Stenabolic (also called SR9009) is an experimental research chemical, not a true dietary supplement, herb, or approved drug. It is sold online for fat loss and endurance, but it has never been tested for safety or effectiveness in humans, and it is banned in sports. Because the risks are unknown and product quality is unreliable, we do not recommend using it.

Overview
Stenabolic, often sold under the code name SR9009, is a synthetic chemical made in a laboratory. It is not an herb, plant extract, or vitamin, even though it is often sold alongside supplements online.
It was first created as a research tool to study the body's internal clock and metabolism. It has never been approved as a medicine or as a dietary supplement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any other major health authority.
Despite this, Stenabolic is marketed to bodybuilders and athletes for fat loss and improved endurance. It is frequently grouped with SARMs (selective androgen receptor modulators), though it works differently. Products sold online are not regulated, so what is in the bottle is often unknown.
How it works
Stenabolic is described as a REV-ERB agonist. REV-ERB is a protein in the body that helps control the natural daily rhythm (circadian clock) and influences how cells handle fat, sugar, and energy.
In laboratory and animal studies, activating REV-ERB appeared to change how the body burns fat and uses energy, and it affected muscle and exercise capacity in mice. Researchers think this is how it might, in theory, affect metabolism and endurance.
It is important to stress that these mechanisms are based on animal and test-tube research. We do not know if Stenabolic behaves the same way in the human body, what doses would matter, or what long-term effects it might have.
Does Stenabolic work?
How to read these evidence grades
Natural Medicines’ 7-point scale. We show each rating’s label word-for-word.
For Stenabolic, current evidence isn’t strong enough to rate any specific use. The conditions it has been studied for are listed below.
Also studied for 3 conditions — evidence insufficient to rate
Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate Athletic performance
Although there is interest in using oral stenabolic for athletic performance, there is insufficient reliable information about the clinical effects of stenabolic for this purpose.
Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate Diabetes
Although there is interest in using oral stenabolic for diabetes, there is insufficient reliable information about the clinical effects of stenabolic for this condition.
Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate Obesity
Although there is interest in using oral stenabolic for obesity, there is insufficient reliable information about the clinical effects of stenabolic for this condition.
Source & disclaimer. Effectiveness ratings and evidence summaries are provided by Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) and shown as licensed. Where Natural Medicines hasn’t rated a use, HelloPharmacist’s pharmacists may add their own reviewed rating and evidence (each such entry is labeled). This is educational information, not medical advice — talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting, stopping, or changing a supplement.
Safety & precautions
The honest answer is that the safety of Stenabolic in humans is unknown. There are no human trials studying its short- or long-term effects, so no one can say it is safe.
Because it is sold as an unregulated research chemical, products may be mislabeled, contaminated, or contain different amounts than stated. Investigations of these online products have repeatedly found inaccurate ingredients.
Stenabolic is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), so athletes who use it risk failing drug tests and losing eligibility. Pregnant or breastfeeding people should not use it because there is zero safety data. People with any medical condition, and anyone under 18, should also avoid it. Always talk to a pharmacist or doctor before considering any product like this.
Side effects
Because Stenabolic has not been studied in humans, its true side effect profile is unknown. Anyone using it is essentially experimenting on themselves.
Possible concerns include effects on sleep and the body's natural rhythm, changes in energy or mood, and unknown effects on the liver, heart, and hormones. Because products may be contaminated, additional harm could come from unlisted ingredients.
If you have taken a product containing Stenabolic and feel unwell — for example chest pain, severe fatigue, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or other worrying symptoms — stop using it and seek medical care right away.
Dosing
There is no established or approved dose for Stenabolic because it has never been tested in proper human studies. Doses suggested on websites and forums are not based on safety research.
We cannot recommend a dose. Given the lack of safety data, the risk of contaminated products, and its banned status in sports, the safest choice is not to use it at all. If you are looking for help with fat loss or athletic performance, speak with a pharmacist or doctor about safe, evidence-based options.
