Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: astragalus root at 450 mg per capsule. Astragalus is a plant traditionally used in herbal medicine.
The capsule itself is made with gelatin and water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence isn't established for astragalus in our data. We hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), amenorrhea, aplastic anemia, angina, asthma, beta-thalassemia, and other uses.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work—it means the clinical research hasn't been solid enough to say one way or another.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Astragalus is generally well tolerated in short-term use by healthy adults, but quality human safety data is limited. Some people have reported dizziness or a skin rash, though these effects may not have been caused by astragalus itself.
The safety data advises against astragalus during pregnancy and while breastfeeding because there isn't enough reliable information to know it's safe at those times.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before starting astragalus, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take immunosuppressants, lithium, antidiabetes drugs, or cyclophosphamide. All of these interactions are rated Moderate in severity.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Astragalus might be worth considering if you're exploring herbal options for certain conditions, but the evidence for those conditions is thin. If you take an immunosuppressant, lithium, antidiabetes medication, or cyclophosphamide, you need to talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this—the interactions are real enough to matter.
Even if you don't take any of those, checking your full medication list first is the smart move.

Astragalus Root 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Astragalus Root 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection interacts with several medication types, and the most serious concern is with immunosuppressants.
Astragalus appears to stimulate immune function, which could theoretically reduce the effectiveness of drugs you're taking to suppress your immune system—including medications after an organ transplant or for autoimmune conditions.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to be careful if you take lithium (a mood stabilizer). Astragalus may have mild diuretic properties that could reduce how your body eliminates lithium, potentially raising its level in your blood.
If you use antidiabetes drugs or cyclophosphamide (a chemotherapy agent), astragalus might increase the risk of low blood sugar or interfere with the drug's intended effect, though the evidence on cyclophosphamide is mixed.
Altogether, these interactions span 208 individual medications. Before you start astragalus, run your exact prescriptions through the search tool on this page or check with your doctor or pharmacist.
