What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: bamboo leaf extract in dry form. The extract is delivered in a liquid form with alcohol, water, and glycerin as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that bamboo leaf extract works for dental cavities — the data rates it as having insufficient reliable evidence to rate. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the research isn't there yet to confirm it.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bamboo shoots are commonly eaten when properly cooked, but supplement safety hasn't been well studied. Raw shoots can be toxic because they contain cyanide glycosides; however, boiling, fermenting, or steam-drying eliminates the hydrogen cyanide that forms.
The safety data on bamboo supplements during pregnancy is too limited — concentrated forms like this one are best avoided without your doctor's green light. Breastfeeding safety is also unknown; avoid concentrated extracts unless your doctor clears it first.
Topically, bamboo has rarely been reported to cause contact dermatitis.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications against this product if you take antithyroid drugs — bamboo extract may increase their effects and side effects. Run the medication checker below with your complete list before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take an antithyroid medication, talk with your pharmacist before using this product. The long-term effects of concentrated bamboo extracts aren't well understood, so it's especially important to discuss with your doctor if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
