What’s inside

Partial disclosure

Partial

Most active ingredients list an amount, but at least one is hidden in a blend or missing.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 5 of its 6 active ingredients.

Nutriissa's Beef Liver & Organs Gummies contain six active ingredients sourced from bovine organs: liver, kidney, heart, pancreas, and spleen, plus fat. These are traditional whole-food supplements meant to deliver the nutritional profile of organ meat.

The liver is the ingredient we have safety and interaction data for; the others are included for their own nutrient content, though we hold no detailed monographs for them. The gummies also contain inactive ingredients — water, pectin, corn syrup, sodium citrate, lactic acid, and carnauba wax — which serve as binders, thickeners, and texture agents.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Liver Extract product and its label doesn't state a use — see Liver Extract's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

We don't hold effectiveness data for this product. The liver extract component shows no reliable evidence for chronic fatigue syndrome or hepatitis C, so if those are reasons you're considering it, the science doesn't support a benefit yet.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

No adverse reactions have been reported from liver extract itself, but a thorough safety review hasn't been done. The main concerns are practical ones: liver products can deliver very high levels of vitamin A, which could harm a developing baby if you're pregnant, so you'd need to avoid this unless your doctor advises otherwise.

There's also concern about contamination — liver extract comes from raw animal liver at slaughterhouses, sometimes from sick animals — and a theoretical risk of disease transmission from countries where bovine spongiform encephalitis (BSE, or mad cow disease) has been reported, though no actual cases of BSE transfer from liver extract to humans have been documented. Because of these unknowns, check with your doctor before starting this product.

Minor interactions only
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Minor only

Only Minor-severity interactions are documented for these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Liver Extract.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Minor.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 3 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take warfarin (Coumadin) for blood clots, check with your pharmacist before starting — the vitamin K in liver extract could theoretically reduce its effect, though this hasn't been directly studied. Also check if you take iron supplements or iron-containing medications; adding this product could increase your total iron intake and raise the risk of stomach upset or iron buildup.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glancePartially disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.

This is a traditional whole-food organ supplement with no proven effectiveness for the conditions it's marketed toward. If you're simply looking for a general nutrient boost from organ meats, it may be worth considering — but you'll want to talk with your pharmacist first if you take warfarin or iron, and with your doctor if you're pregnant or concerned about product sourcing and safety.

Iron

Liver extract can contain heme iron. Taking liver extract with iron-containing medications or supplements may increase total iron intake and could increase the risk of gastrointestinal adverse effects or excessive iron accumulation. The risk is greater with high doses, prolonged use, or in individuals with hemochromatosis or another iron-overload disorder. Review the iron content of the liver extract and the total elemental iron dose. Avoid unnecessary duplicate iron supplementation and consider monitoring ferritin and transferrin saturation when clinically appropriate.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Warfarin (Coumadin)

Liver extract products may contain small and variable amounts of vitamin K. Theoretically, starting, stopping, or substantially changing the amount of liver extract used could reduce the anticoagulant effect of warfarin and lower the INR. However, this interaction has not been directly studied or reported in humans, and the vitamin K content of liver extract products is generally not standardized. Consider monitoring the INR after a meaningful change in liver extract use.

Beef Liver & Organs Gummies by Nutriissa: Common Questions

Does Beef Liver & Organs Gummies by Nutriissa interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Beef Liver & Organs Gummies has a known interaction with 3 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Beef Liver & Organs Gummies contains 6 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Does this product actually work for chronic fatigue or hepatitis?
The evidence doesn't support it. Liver extract shows no reliable benefit for chronic fatigue, and there's not enough research to say whether it helps hepatitis C. If either of those is why you're considering it, you'd be better off talking to your doctor about treatments with proven benefit.
Is it safe to take during pregnancy?
No — liver products can contain very high vitamin A, which may harm a developing baby. Avoid this unless your doctor specifically advises you to take it and monitors you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using.
What's the contamination risk I've heard about?
Liver extract comes from raw animal liver at slaughterhouses, which carries theoretical risk of disease transmission from sick animals. There's also concern about BSE (mad cow disease) from countries where it's been reported. However, no cases of BSE transfer from liver extract to humans have actually been documented. Until more is known, ask your supplier which country the product comes from.
Can I take this if I'm breastfeeding?
We don't have safety data for liver extract during breastfeeding. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using.
Why is there so much vitamin A and iron in this?
Beef liver naturally contains very high levels of both — that's why organ meats are nutrient-dense. But if you already take vitamin A or iron supplements, or if you have iron-overload conditions like hemochromatosis, those high levels could be a problem. Let your pharmacist know what else you're taking.
