Beta-X is a single-ingredient powder containing CarnoSyn, a form of beta-alanine. Beta-alanine is an amino acid that your body uses to make carnosine, a compound involved in muscle function and endurance.

The evidence supports beta-alanine for athletic performance and physical performance — both are rated possibly effective. For other uses listed in the data — cognitive function, age-related cognitive decline, COPD, and menopausal symptoms — the evidence isn't established well enough to rate.
How safe is it?

Beta-alanine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though it commonly causes a harmless tingling sensation (paresthesia) in the skin, usually starting on the scalp within 20 minutes and lasting about an hour. The tingling is dose-dependent: it's very mild at lower doses and more noticeable at higher ones.
