Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product has one active ingredient: biotin, a B vitamin your body needs to convert food into energy and maintain healthy skin, hair, and nails. The dose here is 10,000 micrograms (mcg)—well above what you'd get from food alone.

The tablet also contains inactive ingredients like sorbitol, fructose, natural fruit flavors, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, cellulose, and citric acid for texture, taste, and shelf life.

Strong evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded Biotin's overall clinical evidence instead.

Strong

Strong clinical evidence supports Biotin for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Biotin deficiency — rated "Likely Effective" (Natural Medicines).

Biotin is likely effective for treating biotin deficiency, which is rare but can happen with certain medications or digestive disorders. For other uses listed here—hair loss (alopecia areata), multiple sclerosis, and seborrheic dermatitis—the evidence either isn't strong enough to rate it or suggests it probably won't help.

If you're taking it for one of those conditions, talk with your doctor about what the science actually supports.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at high doses, because your body excretes any excess in your urine. At very high doses, mild diarrhea has rarely been reported—two patients taking 300 mg daily experienced this.

One isolated case linked high-dose biotin combined with another supplement to a serious lung inflammation, but it's unclear whether biotin was the cause, and no similar cases have been reported since. Biotin from food and prenatal vitamins is considered likely safe during pregnancy and lactation.

Because this is a high-dose supplement, check with your doctor before taking it if you're pregnant or nursing.

No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented in our data for the biotin in this product. Run your specific medications through the checker on this page before you start, or ask your pharmacist to be certain.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with strong clinical evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.

This works well if you have a biotin deficiency—your doctor can test for that. For hair loss, skin conditions, or MS, the evidence doesn't support it, so think twice before spending money on it for those reasons.

High doses are generally tolerated, but talk with your doctor first, especially if you're pregnant, nursing, or taking other medications.

Biotin 10,000 mcg Cherry Flavored by BIOVEA: Common Questions

Does Biotin 10,000 mcg Cherry Flavored by BIOVEA interact with any medications?
We do not currently list a known interaction for the mapped ingredients in Biotin 10,000 mcg Cherry Flavored. This does not guarantee none exist, so confirm with your pharmacist.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Biotin 10,000 mcg Cherry Flavored contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will biotin help my hair grow back?
For alopecia areata (patchy hair loss), we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works. If you're losing hair, your doctor can figure out why and suggest treatments that are actually proven to help.
Is this safe to take every day?
Yes—biotin is well tolerated even at high doses because your body just clears the excess through urine. Just check with your doctor first if you're pregnant, nursing, or taking other supplements.
What's biotin actually for?
Biotin is a B vitamin that helps your body turn food into energy and keeps your skin, hair, and nails healthy. A true biotin deficiency is rare, but it can happen with certain medications or digestive problems.
Can I take this with my other vitamins and supplements?
No interactions with medications are documented for biotin, but use the interaction checker on this page with your specific products, or ask your pharmacist to be sure.
Are there any side effects?
At typical doses, side effects are very rare. At very high doses (like 300 mg daily), mild diarrhea has occasionally been reported. One unusual case linked high-dose biotin to lung inflammation, but it's not clear biotin was the cause, and it hasn't happened again.
