What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product is pure broccoli extract — just one active ingredient in powder form. There are no inactive fillers listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The data we hold shows broccoli extract is possibly effective for reducing colorectal cancer risk. For bladder cancer, breast cancer, fibromyalgia, and gastric cancer, the evidence isn't strong enough to rate it one way or another — we simply don't have reliable data to say whether it works for those uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Broccoli as a food is safe for most people in normal amounts. However, concentrated supplements like this extract are much less studied, and the safety data advises caution — talk with your doctor before taking it unless they've approved it.
At high doses, the extract has been reported to cause loose stools, diarrhea, belly pain, and cramping. Topically, allergic skin reactions (contact dermatitis) to broccoli have been reported.
The safety data on concentrated extracts is not well established, so use caution.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any medications broken down by the liver enzymes CYP1A2 or CYP2A6 — particularly cancer drugs, certain antidepressants, and others. The extract may lower their levels and reduce their effectiveness.
Both interactions are rated Moderate.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Broccoli extract is possibly effective for colorectal cancer prevention, but it can speed up how your liver clears a large number of medications — potentially making them less effective. If you take any prescription drugs metabolized by your liver, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this supplement.
Stick with your regular broccoli at the dinner table unless your healthcare provider says the extract is right for you.

Broccoli extract monograph & interactionsBroccoli Extract by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Broccoli Extract by BulkSupplements.com contains one active ingredient — broccoli extract — which has documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is with drugs broken down by the liver enzyme CYP1A2 (such as certain cancer medications, some antidepressants, and others). Research shows that eating 500 grams of fresh broccoli daily for 6–12 days can speed up how your liver clears these drugs by 10% to 200%, potentially lowering their levels and reducing how well they work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The extract may also speed up breakdown of drugs processed by another liver enzyme, CYP2A6 — by as much as 135% to 550% with similar daily amounts over 6 days. This could affect medications in that category as well.
Altogether, these interactions span 187 individual medications.
Both interactions are rated Moderate in severity. The active compound responsible is a group of plant chemicals called glucosinolates.
Because the extract is more concentrated than fresh broccoli, the effect could be stronger. Use the medication checker on this page to search your exact drugs before you start.

Broccoli extract
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of fresh broccoli daily for 6-12 days can increase CYP1A2 activity by 10% to 200%. Induction of CYP1A2 activity by broccoli is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
Cytochrome P450 2A6 (Cyp2A6) Substrates
Theoretically, broccoli might reduce the levels and effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2A6.
Pharmacokinetic research in humans shows that eating 500 grams of broccoli daily for 6 days increases CYP2A6 activity by 135% to 550%. Induction of CYP2A6 activity is attributed to its glucosinolate constituents.
