Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
TerraVita Bronchitis Formula contains 7 active ingredients, most of them herbal glycerite liquid extracts — a concentrated plant form mixed with glycerin. The formula includes agrimony, coltsfoot, mallow, mullein flower, poppy seed, tarrify herb, and English ivy.
The inactive ingredients are glycerin and vanilla flavor.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that these ingredients work for bronchitis or cough. Mullein flower, agrimony, coltsfoot, and English ivy are all rated insufficient reliable evidence for bronchitis and cough.
Poppy seed is rated insufficient for cough as well. Mallow's effectiveness for cough and dry mouth is also insufficient in our data.
Only poppy seed has a strong rating — it's listed as likely effective for vesicoenteric fistula diagnosis, which isn't what this product is marketed for. In short, we don't have solid evidence these ingredients treat the respiratory conditions on the label.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Several ingredients carry pregnancy and breastfeeding warnings. Coltsfoot is rated likely unsafe in both pregnancy and lactation — it contains liver-toxic compounds (pyrrolizidine alkaloids) that can harm a developing baby and pass into breast milk.
Agrimony is rated possibly unsafe in pregnancy and should be avoided while breastfeeding. Mullein flower and English ivy aren't rated as safe in pregnancy or lactation, so avoid them during these times unless your doctor clears it.
Mallow and poppy seed lack pregnancy/lactation safety ratings in our data; mallow is best avoided as a precaution, and poppy seed is rated likely safe in normal food amounts but large doses should be avoided without medical guidance. Regarding side effects, coltsfoot's biggest concern is liver and lung damage from its pyrrolizidine alkaloid content — this can develop over time and cause vague symptoms like belly pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and fluid buildup before liver enlargement appears.
English ivy may cause belly pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Mallow can cause diarrhea, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting.
Poppy seed is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but large amounts may contain trace opiates and trigger positive drug tests; rare serious effects like intestinal blockage have been reported with large doses. A small number of people may have allergic reactions to poppy seed or English ivy.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take blood thinners like warfarin, aspirin, heparin, or clopidogrel (coltsfoot and mullein flower can increase bleeding risk). If you're on antidiabetes drugs, agrimony may lower your blood sugar too much.
Blood pressure medications may be affected by coltsfoot. Any prescription processed by your liver — especially those metabolized by CYP2C19, CYP2D6, or CYP2C8 enzymes — could be affected by English ivy.
Run your exact medications through the checker on this page before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is not established as effective for bronchitis or cough in our data. More importantly, it carries documented interactions with blood thinners, blood pressure drugs, antidiabetes medications, and liver-metabolized prescriptions — and coltsfoot poses a significant safety concern for liver and lung damage.
If you take any medications, especially blood thinners, blood pressure or diabetes drugs, or anything processed by your liver, talk to your pharmacist before using this formula. Avoid it entirely if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

Bronchitis Formula Vanilla Flavor by TerraVita Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
TerraVita Bronchitis Formula Vanilla Flavor contains several herbal ingredients, and a few of them interact with medications.
The most serious concern is coltsfoot, which carries Moderate-severity interactions with blood thinners (anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs) like warfarin, aspirin, and heparin — it can increase bleeding risk by reducing how your blood clots. Coltsfoot also theoretically interferes with blood pressure medications and certain anti-seizure and other drugs metabolized by the liver.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Agrimony poses a Moderate risk with antidiabetes drugs — it may lower blood sugar further, raising the chance of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). English ivy has Moderate interactions with several categories of medications metabolized by the liver, including drugs processed by CYP2C19, CYP2D6, and CYP2C8 enzymes; it may raise levels of these medications in your system.
Mullein flower carries a Minor interaction with blood thinners, with mild blood-thinning effects of its own.
We could not check Tarrify Herb — we hold no interaction data for it. Poppy seed and mallow have no interactions documented in our data, though that's not a guarantee none exist elsewhere.
Altogether, these interactions span 670 individual medications. Use the search tool below to check your exact prescriptions before starting this product.

For each ingredient in Bronchitis Formula Vanilla Flavor with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coltsfoot Glycerite Liquid Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Concomitant use might increase the risk of bleeding due to decreased platelet aggregation. Coltsfoot has been reported to inhibit platelet aggregation; avoid concomitant use. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, excessive doses of coltsfoot may interfere with antihypertensive or cardiovascular therapy.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Inducers
Hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) are substrates of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). Theoretically, drugs that induce CYP3A4 might increase the conversion of PAs to toxic metabolites. Some drugs that induce CYP3A4 include carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenobarbital, phenytoin (Dilantin), rifampin, rifabutin (Mycobutin), and others.
Common Ivy Glycerite Liquid Extract
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, English ivy might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that English ivy inhibits CYP2C19 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C8 (Cyp2C8) Substrates
Theoretically, English ivy might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C8.
In vitro research shows that English ivy inhibits CYP2C8 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, English ivy might increase the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that English ivy inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Mullein Flower Glycerite Liquid Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Lab tests on extracts from different parts of common and dense-flowered mullein plants show that they do have some blood-thinning effects, as they increase the time it takes for blood to clot. This is likely due to at least one of the known constituents of muellein, triterpenoid saponins. However, the effects appear to be mild and results have been inconsistent. Extracts from different plant parts have been show to have varying anticoagulant strengths, with water-based ones being more potent than alcohol-based extracts.
Agrimony Glycerite Liquid Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking agrimony with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Agrimony has demonstrated hypoglycemic effects in animal research.
