CholestOff Complete has three active ingredients. Pantethine is a form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) that may help with cholesterol and fat levels in the blood.
Plant sterols and plant stanols are compounds naturally found in plants that help block cholesterol absorption in your gut. The product also contains several inactive ingredients—gelatin capsule, oils, glycerin, and other excipients—to hold everything together.

Strong evidence
Plant sterols are likely effective for high cholesterol and possibly effective for heart disease. Pantethine is possibly effective for a blood-fat disorder called hyperlipoproteinemia, but the evidence for its use in general high cholesterol isn't strong enough to rate.
Plant stanols are listed as an ingredient but we hold no effectiveness data for them on file.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pantethine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety data are limited—gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, diarrhea, bloating, and flatulence are the most common complaints, and mild itching has been reported rarely. Plant sterols are generally well tolerated at typical amounts for most adults.
A case of widespread rash was reported in one person using a plant sterol supplement, and one child experienced abdominal discomfort in a trial, though gastrointestinal symptoms haven't been widespread in research. There's theoretical concern that plant sterols could cause diarrhea or fatty stools because of how they work in the gut, but this hasn't been documented in clinical studies.
